It sets some criteria that must be met before your site can be eligible for AdSense. You can check out the details at https://www.google.com/adsense/policies.

Specifically sites in the AdSense program may not include: (taken from Google's policies page)
Excessive profanity
Hate, violence, racial intolerance, or advocate against any individual, group, or organization
Hacking/cracking content
Illicit drugs and drug paraphernalia
Pornography, adult, or mature content
Gambling or casino-related content
Excessive advertising
Pop-ups, pop-unders or exit windows that interfere with site navigation, obscure AdWords ads, change user preferences, or are for downloads. Other types of pop-ups, pop-unders, or exit windows may be allowed, provided that they do not exceed a combined total of 2 per site

Over and above these restrictions there are also minimum standards for style and content. This makes sense because whilst Google does not endorse any particular websites included in its AdSense program, there is a tacit reputational risk for Google each time its ads run on a third-party website.

Google sets out most of its criteria for acceptance with admirable clarity, but there are certain areas that are left hazy (probably deliberately). For example, there are no hard and fast rules as to how content-rich a site must be before it qualifies. (Sites that don't provide much informational value are unlikely to qualify for AdSense.)

So how do you know if your site is sufficiently rich in content to qualify for the AdSense program?

The short but potentially dangerous answer is: submit your site to AdSense and see what happens. This will give you the information you need quickly, but it may not be the information you want to hear. The reason this approach may be dangerous is that there is anecdotal evidence on the internet that suggests submitting a site that fails the acceptance hurdle may adversely impact where the site appears on Google's search results page in the future.

What is Google Adsense? And should I use it?

Well I have done some research on the subject and found out what exactly this Google adsense thing is that everyone seems to be talking about. It is a scheme set up by Google that allows you too put a small amount of code in your websites HTML which lets Google produce and place adverts on your website that are contextually relevant. Then when someone clicks on the advert that Google has placed on your website you get a percentage of the money that the advertiser paid Google for placing the advert.

The money I will make off the scheme won’t be great but it will be something, maybe a few dollars a month, but it would make me feel happier about spending so much time writing articles for this blog.

However, part of me feels like making money of a free service in blogger is wrong for I have not paid anything for this blog so why should I make money off it. Also, part of me feels like I will be ‘selling out’ by allowing an advert on my blog for is there anywhere in our capitalist society where we don’t have adverts shoved in our faces. You can’t watch TV, listen to radio even walk down the street without an advert showing you how ‘amazing’ a product is, and if I use this program my blog will no longer be a safe haven from these annoying adverts.

So, I would love your input should I use this program and try and make a few bucks which is the option I am currently favouring or would it annoy you so much that my blog had adverts on it you would prefer me to carry on without the small income it would generate. Please leave a comment and let me know your thoughts.

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://adsense-4you.blogspot.com/2007/03/what-is-google-adsense-and-should-i-use.html' title='What is Google Adsense? You can only make money from Google adsense if your blog/website is receiving some traffic as you can only make money from Google adsense if there are people clicking on the ads Google places on your website.

So I will create a few quick tips on how to increase the traffic to your blog, especially if like me you are using the free blog site blogger. If your site already receives a good amount of traffic and you feel you do not need to improve this skip on to later in this post. If, however, you wish to improve your traffic to your blog her are a few tips if you are using blogger:

1)Go into your settings and ping weblogs.com – this is a simple service that tells blogger to notify weblogs.com every time you update your blog. This means that your blog will be listed in their websites recently updated list which is extra publicity for your blog.

2)Install E-mail this post – This allows people to send your post to other people this will not have an immediate effect on the amount of people who come to your blog but over time more and more people will become aware of your blog so this allows others to publicize your blog for you.

3)Add your blog to blogger’s listings – Now this is an obvious one but many people turn this setting off when they start and forget to turn it back on. This is simple added publicity whenever you update your blog it will appear in the recently updated section on blogger and it can appear when someone clicks on next blog on the navbar. This is just a free access to traffic.

4)Turn on your site feed – Allowing people to subscribe to your site feed, you are practically guaranteeing yourself repeat readers as if someone is subscribing to your blog they definitely want to read what you have to post.

5)Be an active commenter – If you comment on someone else’s blog and leave a link to your own blog on the comment then you can be pretty sure that they are going to click on your link to return the favour. So the more blogs you comment on the more people will look at your blog.

Of coarse these techniques will only work if you have a good blog with interesting, easy to read context. Here are some suggestions to improving your blog so when people go on your blog once they will want to keep on returning:

1)Write quality content - Nowadays readers want posts on blogs to have proper punctuation, correct grammar and spellings. You need to have some respect for your readers and accept that bad spelling and grammar is very unattractive in a blog.

2)Keep your posts short and sweet – No one wants to spend hours reading a post that is practically an essay they want all the information in a sizeable chunk. You want your readers to be able to pop in read up and click on. Another way to make readers happier to read your posts is by keeping your paragraphs short so readers can read a paragraph and if they need to do something else come back and pick up where they left off.

3)Publish regularly – People will only keep on returning to your blog if they think there will be something new on there when they do. So if you stop publishing new posts they will stop reading your blog and start reading someone else’s.

Now the last thing I recommend is to join Technorati this website is a blogger’s best friend, it is one of the best providers of traffic to blogs. Technorati makes your blog much easier to find when people search by Technorati tags. Technorati is also a large blog ranking engine it will rank your blog by the number of links to your blog from various websites. The higher your rank the easier your blog is to find when people search for things and a higher rank gives your blog greater credibility in Technorati which will improve your traffic. So if you haven’t signed up to this website do and then claim your blog.

Of coarse if you want to guarantee your website is one of the top results on your keywords you will need to use a system like Yahoo! search marketing. You can now start with £50 credit in your new Yahoo! Search Marketing account and can watch your company rise to the top of the search results.

I am now going to assume that you have used all the tips above or you already had a fairly decent traffic and have or are about to add Google adsense to your blog and want to know some tips to improving your revenue/income from Google adsense. So here they are:

1)Simple mistake – Nearly everyone who first uses Google Adsense makes this mistake including me, which is to simply put the box with the Google adverts in at the very top of the page and expect people to start clicking. But my own research and that of many other bloggers shows that people do not look at the very top of the page as their eyes quickly scan for the start of the real content meaning a large percentage of your traffic will not even see your ads. So instead you should put the ads somewhere nearer the content of your page maybe even halfway through a post so readers not only look at the ads but also see them when they are useful to them.

2)Blending Ads – In the old days we used to think the best way for an ad to get clicked on is for it to stand out like a sore thumb forcing you to look at it. But, nowadays, readers have got used to seeing these ads and simply ignore them so you need to change your ads from being something that stands out to something that blends in with the rest of the blog, readers will then see the ads as helpful links not annoying adverts. This is very simple to do with Google adsense so try experimenting with the colour of the adsense boxes and borders. You may see a dramatic increase in the number of clicks with a certain colour but this colour will be different with every blog.

3)Content is key – As you may or may not be aware Google adsense works by crawling around your blog and working out what ads are most suited to your blog. So if you have a very specific content then Google adsense can provide very specific ads and as everyone who goes on your blog will be interested in that topic they will be interested in the ads so therefore you will get a higher click rate and therefore a larger revenue from your traffic.

4)Size of the Google adsense boxes – This may seem trivial but trust me it can have a huge impact on your revenue, whenever possible use wide ad boxes as these are easier on the eye as we naturally read across the page so the brain is happier to digest the ads which to you means more people seeing and reading your ads. Of course only use wider ads if you have the space as its better to have a thinner ad box than no ad box, but if you have the choice between a wide and short ad box or a thin and tall ad box then always choose the wide option.

5)Google adsense has expanded – Don’t just go for the simple Google adsense text ads you can now have image ads and even video ads. So test these and see if they are more effective and increase your revenue if they don’t then just switch back. You can also add a Google search bar on your blog and refer people to Google products all of these will earn you extra revenue so try them and see if they work for you.

So there you are you now know when to blend your ads amidst content so readers see them as useful links instead of annoying adverts, to use wider advert boxes whenever possible and to experiment with the colour of your ads and the borders. But most of all I recommend you mess around with it now and again and experiment until you find what is right for you blog. I hope you found this post interesting and you will use it to increase your revenue/income if you already have Google adsense or as a help to where to position your ads when you do join Google adsense as you want to make some profit from your blog. So go on make money from your blog. I hope you found this google adsense guide helpful, if you did please leave a comment.

How Adsense determines your earnings.

Google Adsense has a simple calculation formula in order to calculate the Adsense earnings of publishers. Before I go into explaining the formula, you need to first understand Adsense's lingo that they use.

* Clickthrough rate (CTR) is the number of clicks an ad unit receives divided by the number of times the ad unit is shown (impressions).

* Effective CPM (eCPM) is cost per 1000 impressions. From a publisher's perspective, CPM is a useful way to compare revenue across different channels and advertising programs. It is calculated by dividing total earnings by the number of impressions in thousands.

* Impression is the number of times an ad is displayed on Google or on sites or products in Google's ad network. A page impression is counted each time an ad unit is displayed on a publisher's site. Page impressions are used when calculating reports for Adsense publishers, rather than ad impressions.

* Earnings is total money that would be given by Google Adsense for publishers who participate in their affiliate programs.

* Earnings Per Click (EPC) actually is average cost per click that would be given to publishers depends on the sum of the click, page impressions and advertiser's bid. It is still unknown exactly how Google Adsense uses the EPC.

Here is the actual formula that Adsense uses:

CTR = (Clicks / Impressions) * 100

EPC = Earnings Per Click

eCPM = (Earnings / Impressions) * 1000
eCPM = CTR * EPC * 10

Earnings = eCPM * Impressions / 1000
Earnings = CTR * EPC * Impressions / 100

Hopefully this was a good starter tutorial on how Google Adsense works.

Choosing Keywords

Choosing the correct keywords is essential if you wish to get listed in the search engines. Since the keywords that you decide to target will be used throughout the optimization process, choosing the right keywords is essential. If you choose the wrong keywords you will not be found in the search engines.

The following is a list of tips that you should always about choosing keywords.

1. Don't be too general when selected your keywords. Think "specific keyword phrases" not "keywords". Why? Due to the extreme amount of competition for general terms in the search engines, if your keyword phrases are too general it is very unlikely you will rank well in the search engines. You stand a far better chance to rank well for specific phrases where there is less competition. You might also want to search the major search engines to see how many results turn up for the particular phrase that you are thinking about (the smaller the results, the less competition to compete with). This is especially useful if you have a low page rank.

2. Try to think like your target audience. What would they search for when looking for the page you are optimizing? It is very easy to fall in the trap of coming up with a short list of what you would search for, but what about everyone else? They will not necessarily use the same keywords as you. You should try to come up with as many keyword phrases as you can think of that relate to the page you are optimizing. Try asking a few friends and family what they would search for when searching for a site like yours.

3. Check out your competition for ideas. Do a search using keywords that you already know you want to target and click through on the top sites that come up. Once on the site view the source HTML code and view the keywords they have in their meta tags - this should give you many more ideas! Make sure to only use keywords that relate to YOUR site or page. To view the HTML code simply click the 'View' at the top of your web browser then select 'Source', or 'Page Source'.

4. You should develop a list of keyword phrases, following the tips on this page, for each page that you optimize for the search engines.

5. People often misspell keywords and phrases. You may wish to take this into consideration when making up your keywords.

Adsense Tips

Adsense don'ts

While Google is a nice partner to work with, they are strict on a number of issues.

* Once you implement the code, do not click on the ads yourself. However, there are many differences as well. The following will discuss how to apply top paying keywords as well as traffic pulling keywords to a webpage for maximum payouts and traffic.

First of all, you must understand that Google Adsense bot (formally known as Google Mediabot) is a subset of Google's main crawler. The crawler detects the theme of the pages and makes an entry in the Google's index (a private index - not shown publicly) that records the theme of all the pages hosting Adsense script. This means that Google's Mediabot is very similar to Google's crawler that is used to index your web page.

There are two types of optimizations that you need to follow to make a web page search engine optimized. Same is the case with Adsense Optimization.

Internal Optimization : Internal Optimization includes Meta tags, Title Text, Optimization of content, and internal linking of your website. Here we will learn how to increase relevancy of ads and how to inject keywords that will help you get high paying ads. Internal Optimization has a high impact on the relevancy of ads and CTR.

External Optimization : This includes the web pages that are giving links to you (external profile of your website), anchor text being used to link your website, and many more variables that search engines use to evaluate the authoritative importance of a web page. External Optimization helps bring relevant traffic to your website and enables you to earn more by getting more CTR (Click Thru Ratio).
How long does your webpage take to show high paying ads?

This is an important question that needs to be answered. As soon as you apply Adsense script in a webpage, it is visited by the Google Mediabot (within 2 hours to 48 hours, if the bot is free - immediately). Google Mediabot's responsibility is to evaluate the theme of the web page, and enable ads almost immediately so that your website traffic does not see FREE SERVICE ADS.

The relevancy of ads increases as Google's main crawler visits your website and updates its index. Furthermore, you may observe an increase in the earnings as the PR of your website/web page increases. This means that in case of Google Adsense, the internal factors that affect the ads of a particular page are evaluated by Google Mediabot (but Google's main crawler can overwrite them). And on the other hand, the external factors are inspected by the Google Crawler over a period of time. Having said that, there are simply many many factors (including those which you cannot control) that affect your ads. We are going to discuss the factors that you can control. Lets take control!
Remember:

1. Relevancy of ads may increase as your page is indexed by Google.
2. EPC (Earnings Per lick) may increase as your PR increases.
3. It entirely depends upon you how well you promote your website and get maximum earnings from your website/web pages.
4. In case of Google, many variables are involved.

How to boost your AdSense revenue

AdSense's advantages

AdSense is simple to join.

It's easy to paste a bit of code into your pages.

It's free to join.

You don't have to spend time finding advertisers.

Google provides well written, highly relevant ads - chosen to closely match the content on your pages.

You don't have to waste time choosing different ads for different pages.

You don't have to mess around with different code for various affiliate programs.

You're free to concentrate on providing good content and Google does the work of finding the best ads for your pages from 100,000 AdWords advertisers.

It's suitable for beginners or marketing veterans.

AdSense provides simple, easy-to-understand stats.

If you have affiliate links on your site, you ARE allowed to add AdSense ads. However, with your affiliate links, you must not mimic the look and feel of the Google ads.

You can filter up to 200 URLs, so you can block ads for sites that don't meet your standards. You can also block strong competitors.

Inevitably, AdSense is competing strongly for space on web sites with all other revenue sharing opportunities.

If you own a small web site you can plug a bit of AdSense code into your site and almost instantly relevant text ads that are likely to appeal to your visitors will appear on your pages.

If you own several sites, you need apply only once. This makes AdSense much simpler than joining a bunch of affiliate programs.

As you can see, I'm really keen on this revenue sharing service.

Disadvantages

One problem is inappropriate ads. You don't want spammy junk advertised on your site. Google's standards probably aren't as high as yours. You can filter out 200 URLs, but in some industries that won't be enough.

The stats Google supplies are inadequate. They're easy to understand at a glance. However, they don't tell you exactly which ads people are clicking on, or which keywords are involved. That's frustrating.

Also, I'd like to be able to identify and block ads that have very low payout rates, without doing a lot of sleuthing and messing around.

The ad panels say "Ads by Google" - free advertising for Google. You don't earn anything if someone clicks on that link.

The minimum payout is $100, which is regarded as too high by sites which don't receive much traffic. That won't worry experienced webmasters.

Also, sites that want to display AdSense ads may not include "other content-targeted and/or text-based ads on the pages displaying AdWords ads." However, human beings review the sites. Rejected sites have been able to appeal successfully.

Another disadvantage is that Google doesn't allow you to share your stats with other webmasters. The AdSense Terms and Conditions say:

"Confidentiality. You agree not to disclose Google Confidential Information without Google's prior written consent. 'Google Confidential Information' includes without limitation: ... (b) click-through rates or other statistics relating to Site performance in the Program provided to you by Google..."

That's really weird. Web site owners need to be able to share such information and discuss successes and failures.

A big disadvantage of the service is that Google doesn't say how much its AdSense partners will receive. You'll just receive an unknown share of the revenue.

Only a company with the goodwill and respect Google has earned could get away with such a cheeky offer.

Google says:

"How much will I earn through this program? The AdWords ads you are able to display on your content pages are cost-per-click (CPC) ads. This means that advertisers pay only when users click on ads. You'll receive a portion of the amount paid for clicks on AdWords ads on your website. Although we don't disclose the exact revenue share, our goal is to enable publishers to make as much or more than they could with other advertising networks."

So the only way to know how much you'll earn is to try it and see. If you want to bail out, all you have to do is remove the code from your site.

Don't put all your eggs in the AdSense basket. If Google discovers fraudulent clicks on ads appearing on your pages, it can dump your site from the service, and refuse to pay you all revenue owed. Some webmasters who claim total innocence have had this happen to them.

Google has made several changes to its AdSense FAQ, clarifying varying things. For example, it IS possible to apply for separate accounts for separate web sites. I've done so, and checked with Google that it's OK in my case. Read the rules - they look ambiguous to me. If in doubt, ask first!

Some time after the launch of AdSense, Google added "channels" which improve the tracking. I strongly recommend that you experiment with these.

Sites with "excessive advertising" are being rejected.

PLEASE read the rules and FAQ. When I looked, some advice in the rules contradicted advice in the FAQ. If in any doubt, ask their support staff. They're very helpful.

WHAT IS ADSENSE?

AdSense is an ad serving program run by Google. Website owners can enroll in this program to enable text, image and, more recently, video advertisements on their sites. These ads are administered by Google and generate revenue on either a per-click or per-thousand-impressions basis. Google is also currently beta-testing a cost-per-action based service. Google utilizes its search technology to serve ads based on website content, the user's geographical location, and other factors. Those wanting to advertise with Google's targeted ad system may sign up through AdWords. AdSense has become a popular method of placing advertising on a website because the ads are less intrusive than most banners, and the content of the ads is often relevant to the website. It currently uses JavaScript code to incorporate the advertisements into a participating site. If it is included on a site which has not yet been crawled by the Mediabot, it will temporarily display advertisements for charitable causes known as public service announcements (PSAs). (Note that the Mediabot is a separate crawler from the Googlebot that maintains Google's search index.) Many sites use AdSense to monetize their content and some webmasters work hard to maximize their own AdSense income. They do this in three ways: They use a wide range of traffic generating techniques including but not limited to online advertising. They build valuable content on their sites; content which attracts AdSense ads and which pay out the most when they get clicked. They use copy on their websites that encourage clicks on ads. Note that Google prohibits people from using phrases like "Click on my AdSense ads" to increase click rates. Phrases accepted are "Sponsored Links" and "Advertisements".

HOW TO SIGN UP? To get accepted into the AdSense program, you have to fill out a form and submit your site for evaluation. Once your site is approved, you can activate your Google account.
YOU CAN SIGN UP BY LINK GIVEN IN THE INTRODUCTION ON THE HOMEPAGE OF MY BLOG

ADSENSE SETUP REFERRALS These are ads promoting AdSense, AdWords or Firefox with Google toolbar. You are allowed to put one of each unit per page. Payment method is different for each one of them.

ADSENSE FOR SEARCH You place a searchbox on your page and you get paid every time someone performs a search and then clicks on the result. You are allowed to place 2 units per page.

ADSENSE FOR CONTENT These are textual, image or video ads. You are paid on either per-click or per-thousand-impressions basis. There are also text link units at your disposal. You are allowed up to 3 textual (image, video) and 1 link unit per page. HOW DOES ADSENSE WORK? Google‘s search technology enables you to serve ads based on your website’s content. This means that if you run a site about ‘’fishing equipment’’, your ads will be about ‘’fishing equipment’’. Other thing, if your site is in English, you won’t have German ads on your site. Google uses JavaScript code to incorporate the advertisements into a participating site. The ads are crawled by the Mediabot, the robot that maintains the ads and matches them with your site’s content. Mediabot is a separate crawler from the Googlebot that maintains Google's search index.

Maximizing AdSense Revenue- SIMPLE TIPS

LINK UNITS

People often ignore link units because of their size and focus on large text and image ads. That’s a big mistake. Why?

Proper positioning of the link units could prove more profitable than text ads. The best place to put a link unit is near the site navigation link. Imagine your visitor searching for your archive and then the link unit catches his eyes. He will be tempted even more if a link unit is well blended and is of the same color as your navigation links. It becomes click bait!

From this theory you can conclude that a vertical link units usually functions better than horizontal, but that depends on the placement of your sites navigation links. On a site that’s configured like my blog horizontals would be pretty much useless!

TEXT ADS

Like I mentioned before that link units have to blend with your site, the same rule applies with text ads. However, there’s an ongoing discussion regarding this strategy.

One group of people says that it’s better to make the ads stand out more so they’re easy to be noticed. For example, if they have a white background and their ads are red, they can’t go without being noticed.

The second group believes that blending ads with the background is the way to go. I’m more for this option because it’s not aggressive and it looks far more professional than the first option. Frankly, just seeing an ad that stands out too much makes me want to leave the site immediately, regardless of the quality of its content!

After we discussed blending, it’s time to move on to the placing of the ads.

It’s a fact that the skyscrapers (160x600) don’t function very well on the two column blogs; they escape people’s attention. However, 3 column blogs like mine where the majority of ads are squeezed in the middle make it easier to be spotted by the visitor.

The most effective ads seem to be (250x250) squares integrated under post titles. I can’t implement this on my blog (I believe someone knows how). If you have an interesting writing, be sure that people will read it until the end, so you could place a nice large square at the bottom of your page.

I don’t want to trouble my readers so I avoid placing ads at or near the top of my page.

SEARCH BOX

There’s not much to say about placing of the search box. It’s proven to be most profitable on the right top of the page.

Set your search box to open results in a separate window. This will make people stay on your site!

Free Advertising Dollars by Bidvertiser

Bidvertiser is offering FREE $20 advertising dollars with every new Advertiser account. You may use it to promote your blog, affiliate programs or even ebay auctions. I'm not sure as to how many accounts you can open as I have only registered once thus far but I would presume just one for every credit card used for registration.

Yes... you would have to submit your credit card details BUT you will not be charged for anything unless you surpassed the $20 amount. The good news is that you can stop the program just before it reaches the $20 mark. I find this to be an evil way to manipulate the system but I'm sure many people are doing the same thing.

Surely $20 is not a huge amount but it does provide you with a feel of how effective Bidvertiser network is for the keywords or topic you are promoting. From my personal observation, I believe Bidvertiser strength lies in promoting money making blogs and programs especially with over 500 blogs / sites participating under this category alone.

If you want to take advantage of this offer, just click on the button below to receive your $20 and start the promoting process:

GOOGLE KEEPS A WATCH

We always hear that Google has a sophisticated system to detect the invalid clicks, and result in termination of the cheaters' account. But, how can Google do that? In this post, I summarize those ways that Google depends on to detect whether the clicks on your site are invalid or not. Google will not first ban your account immediately. Rather, they will first flag your account and Google will keep a closer eye to your account. In some occasion, they may send you a warning letter to notify your situation; but sometimes not.

1. IP Address
It is the easist and must be recognized by everyone. If those clicks on your ads are originated from the same IP Address as the one used for accessing your AdSense account, your account is flagged.

2. Click Through Rate (CTR)
Normally, Click thru Rate should not excees 10%. Otherwise, Google will flag your account. For your information, normal CTR should ranges from 0.5% - 10%.

3. Physical Location
Google has good tracing software and technology. They can trace traffics origin down to the small town. So, using different computers with different IP address does not secure anything. So, don't try to click your ads in various internet cafes. That will kill you.

4. Cookies
Most home users do not use static IP Address for Internet connection. In most cases just disconnect and reconnect will give you a new IP Address. But don't forget, Google has set cookies on your computer. They can trace these cookies and see whether they originate from the same computer.

5. Click Pattern
- It is also suspicious when people click on their clicks and then run away immediately (hit-and-run). But normally, people will surf for a while inside your pages and then click on the ads they want.
- Why this computer / IP address / person is so trigger-click-happy on this particular website but never click on the ads on other sites?
- And why is it that people accessing these sites direct (type-in URL or from bookmark) tend to be very active ad-clickers compared with those referred from search engine or other sites?

6.Other Google Services
Apart from Google Adsense, Google also provide a series of services to us. Don't just think that it is safe if you do not log in your adsense account and click on your ads. What other Google services do they provide to us? Here are some: Gmail (most poeple are using it), Google Earth, Google Calendar, Google Search, Google Toolbar, Google Talk, Google Sitemap, Google Desktop, Blogger, or even Youtube (coz Google has just recently acquired it).

7.Hardware address
Don't you know that your modem,LAN card and routers has a serial number which act like a fingerprint? These can be used as tracing evidence by Google. Google is very smart!

8. Search Engine Ranking
Your website is not indexed on any search engine, not linked by any prominent website, but get consistently high traffic? How come people can access your website and click your ads? That will make Google to smell a rat.

9. Webpage design
How about the "Please click a link below" or "donate us by clicking the ads"? These kinds of encouragement is not in line with Google's TOS. Google can use their winning search engine, or even human eyes to check your sites from time to time.

10. Advertisers conversion rate
Ad click is one thing. But does it bring value to the advertisers? If none of the clicks on your site translate to conversion to the advertiser, you are in trouble. First the Smart-Pricing hits, then your AdSense account disabled

Adsense – The Powerful Passive Income Generator

Webmasters have a revolutionary new method of collecting income from their websites. Whereas in the past advertising revenue was reserved for those sites with large a coming and going of visitors, now even teenagers are making a quick buck with their online hobby blogs. People place adsense on their online family photo albums, their blogs and their business sites. The minimum you would get, even with a small amount of traffic, is for adsense to pay for your hosting costs.

Adsense revolutionized the world of paid advertising; banner advertising is based on the number of visitors you attract to your site, so the number of “banner impressions” dictate the revenue you receive. Google Adsense is quite different; it is the number of visitors that actually click on the advertising that determine how much you earn.

There is also a great disparity between payouts; because advertisers bid up the price for certain keywords, some ads pay more than others. As such, a site with few visitors but expensive keywords in their google ads can potentially still pull in a hefty payout.

Google really has taken the web by storm; attracted to passive income, more and more people are seriously capitalizing on their Google adsense advertising. Some of the highest earners manage to attract enough visitors to make a four figure monthly income, just from using adsense alone! This is not one of those get-rich-quick schemes and Google’s adsense success is largely thanks to the fact that Google already enjoyed a fantastic reputation before introducing the program. They are a publicly traded company with physical headquarters. This, and the fact that anyone can apply to use adsense for free, has caused millions of people to sign up. For google it was a smart move, because now they extend their presence to countless websites and generate millions of dollars in advertising revenue. People were never reluctant to sign up, because the program is free. Google benefits by more people using adsense, so offering it for free was the best thing they could do.

One of the driving forced behind the program are its relevance to each and every page on a website; the program picks up keywords appearing in the website copy and automatically displays relevant ads. This increases the chances of people clicking through, and the webmaster collecting more revenue.

People are leveraging their income by operating several websites and attempting to attract as many targeted visitors as possible; in many instances we can observe that people work hard at a site, then once it is established they can largely leave it alone, yet still collect significant checks.

A major concern for entrepreneurs was the danger of a competitors ads showing up on their site; thanks to the adsense feature where it only displays relevant advertising. However this problem was solved by offering webmasters the option of filtering out unwanted ads. They can submit the URL of the competing site in their account, and any ads from the website will be blocked.

Google recently came out with a new feature: small targeted keywords based on the site’s content are displayed; then as people click on those, a page opens showing a variety of pay-per-click ads based on that keyword. This gives webmasters the chance of displaying more advertising in less space.

Adsense also adds creditability to your website; the more focused the content, the better the ads will be and this encourages people to built high quality websites. These make the net a better place and generally provide a free service; site owners can afford to share their expertise or passions because they can receive indirect revenue’s. The visitor does not pay for the information; instead the advertisers do, making the website’s existence possible in the first place.

It is no surprise Google adsense is the most widely used form of advertising; they have created a program that is beneficial to both advertisers and users with their “no click no pay” mechanism, or more popularly called “pay-per-click”. Advertisers do not pay for ads that are not drawing visitors, and website owners are paid more for each click than they would if the system were based on the number of people viewing the ads, instead of clicking on them.

All in all Google adsense has developed itself into a powerful tool, used by large corporations and the kid next door. They have truly revolutionized how the web thinks about advertising and made the process more profitable for site owners, while less costly for advertisers.

Tips for Improving Ads Performance

Basically there are so many ways to help you optimizing your adsense performance. Their exact formula is a secret, but there are a few things you can do to improve your positioning. The term for this is Search Engine Optimization (SEO).

These tips may not make your website the first one to appear in the list, but they just may help you move up a little.

Ignore spam and websites that offer to submit your website to hundreds of search engines. At best these are wastes of time or money and at worst they can actually hurt your ranking.

Keyword Phrases
Rather than focusing on a single word, try adding a few words to make a keyword phrase. You may want to read about effective Google searches to see how keyword phrases help with searches.
If you were searching for your own website, what keyword phrase would you type into Google for each page? Would you look for “super fast widgets?” Would you look for “cooking with widgets?” It may be helpful to get a different perspective. Ask someone else to read your page and suggest what they think your keyword phrase might be.

Stick to one subject per page, and stick to one keyword phrase per page.

Density

One of the things Google looks for when it catalogs pages is the density of the keyword usage. In other words, how often the keyword occurs. Use natural phrasing. Don't try to trick the search engine by repeating the same word over and over or making text "invisible." It doesn't work. In fact, it may even get your Web site banned from Google.

Give a strong opening paragraph. Google may or may not search beyond the first 200 words or so of your web site, but it definitely looks at the first paragraph for keyword density.

You can check your keyword density with Google Toolbar.

Name Your Pages

Give your pages a descriptive name . This is vital. Google displays search results as a link using the web page’s title. A link called “untitled” isn’t enticing. When appropriate, use the page’s keyword phrase in the title.

You can learn more about HTML tags from the About Guide to Web Design.

Learn more about why titles matter.

Link Early, Link Often

One of the biggest factors Google looks at is the hyperlink. Google looks at both links to and from your website.

Google looks at the words you use in links to help determine the content of your page. Use links within web pages as a way to emphasise keywords. Rather than saying, “click here to learn more about SEO,” you should say: Read more about SEO (Search Engine Optimization).

Learn more about why naming your links matters to Google.

Links from other websites to your website are used to determine PageRank. You can use Google Toolbar to check your current PageRank.

You can improve your PageRank by exchanging text links with other relevant websites. Banner exchanges are not as effective. You can also improve your PageRank by making sure your website is listed with important directories. In other words, check the PageRank of the home page of the directory.

Submit Your Site to the Right Directories

Submit your website to the open directory project, if possible. Google considers this directory to be an important link. Be patient. A real human has to check your site, before it's listed in Directory.

Submit your site to specialized directories. For instance, a work at home mother owned business (WAHM) should submit her site to WAHM directories. A site on butterflies should be sent to biology or entomology directories.

Don’t get too submission happy, though. Google, in an effort to combat “click fraud,” often filters out websites linked from “link farms,” or websites with nothing but links to other websites. This is one reason why free services to register your website may hurt you. Stick to specialized directories and organizations. They’re more likely to help and not hurt your rankings.

Make Your Graphics Search Friendly

Keep the Flash to a minimum. People may enjoy reading Flash, but search engines tend to skip right over it. If your menus are in Flash, they might as well be invisible. Consider making plain text links in addition to or instead of Flash.

Give your images tags. Not only does it make your website more accessible to the visually impaired, it also gives you another chance to place your keywords where Google can see them.

Good Design Is Popular Design

In the end, strong, well organized pages are pages that Google tends to rank higher. They're also pages that tend to become more popular, which means Google will rank them even higher. Keep good design in mind as you go, and much of the SEO will design itself.

PLAY SAFE WITH GOOGLE ADSENSE: DO'S AND DONT'S

Want to make money with Google AdSense for content? Here's a list of what not to do, unless you want to get banned. Google doesn't play around when it comes to click fraud. Click fraud loses Google money, and it loses AdWords customers money.

If you don't play by the rules, you may get a warning, you may get suspended, or you may just get banned.

1) Commit Google Don'ts
The first thing to avoid is any of the Google Don'ts. Cloaking, keyword stuffing, and title stacking are all ways to get banned from Google searches. They're also ways to get banned from AdSense.

When you place AdSense ads on your site, your site is far more visible to Google and it's much more likely that your rule breaking will be caught.
2) Click on Your Own Ads
No matter how tempting, never ever click on your own ads. This is probably the easiest way to get your site suspended or banned. It's a form of click fraud, and Google is very good at catching this, even if you think you're hiding your tracks.

Don't let anyone who uses any computer in your home click on your ads, either. Make sure your significant others and children are aware of the rules, or you could jeopardize your standing with Google.

3) Hide Your Ads
It might be tempting to hide your ads by making them the same color as your background or camouflaging them on areas with busy background images. You do still get paid for pageviews, so invisible ads would still pay, right? Don't even try it. This violates Google's Terms of Service, and it's easy to get caught.

Don't stuff your ads far below the rest of the content, either. Clicks pay better than pageviews, so it's to your advantage to have your ads prominent. Try to make the ads look like they belong on your page.
4) Beg for Clicks
Don't hold ad-click contests, beg, or even give big hints that people should click on your ads. They can ban you if they catch you begging for clicks anywhere on the Web, including pages that are totally unrelated to your AdSense pages.

Google also forbids labeling your ads with language stronger than "sponsored links." This is really for everyone's benefit. Pages that beg for clicks are usually not great reads, and pity clicks don't help the advertisers.

Note: It's fine to have contests on your Web site that aren't related to ad clicking or other rule breaking, such as "best photo" contests.
5) Alter the Code
AdSense generates javascript code that you can copy-and-paste directly into the HTML of your Web page. If you need to change the color or size of your ads, generate new code from AdSense. Don't make changes to the code from your Web page editing program or tweak it by hand.

If you put AdSense in Blogger, Google will generate the code for you from within Blogger.
6) Use Robots to Click on Your Site
Never use any sort of automated tool to inflate your page views or click on your ads. This is click fraud of the highest order, and Google is very sophisticated at catching this. This is a trick that can easily get you banned.

Likewise, don't use human-powered schemes to pay for clicks, either. No trading clicks with other AdSense users, and no pay-for-clicking schemes. If advertisers wanted to pay people for clicking, they would have signed up for it themselves.
7) Tell People How Much You Earn Per Click
Google is very picky about how much you disclose about how AdSense works. They don't let you tell people how much you were paid per keyword, because this could jeopardize revenue from AdWords advertisers. Beware of anyone who offers to sell you this information.
8) Make Pages Specifically to Display Ads
Google says you can't make pages simply to hang ads, "whether or not the page content is relevant." Many Web sites, including About.com, make money from ads. Google itself makes most of its money from advertising. What makes the difference between ad sponsored content and content for the sake of ads?

When you develop your site, your first thought should be about creating content, not ads. Avoid writing empty sentences for the sake of generating keywords, and avoid lengthy copy-and-pastes just to make more pages. Every page you publish should have a content-driven purpose.

9) Make Content About Taboo Topics
Google has a strict list of content standards, and they don't accept AdSense on pages that are violating them. These include, among other things, sites that promote or sell:
alcohol
certain weapons
firearms
tobacco
drugs
designer knock-offs
This is a silly rule to violate, because AdSense is keyword generated, so it's amazingly easy for you to get caught. If you do have content that violates these rules, such as a beer-making supply store, they may be legitimate sites, but AdSense is not for you.
10) Cheat in Any Other Way
This isn't by any means a comprehensive list.

I'm sure there are many ways to game the system that Google hasn't found out about... yet. There always are. AdSense is constantly changing to find new ways to detect click fraud, and eventually you will be caught.

The best way to generate income through AdSense is to create good content that is well optimized for search engines and to promote your site through legitimate channels.

That sounds like a lot of work, because it is a lot of work. However, it's a strategy that won't get you banned.

Google Adsense Forums, Blogs and Resources

Here is a list of notable resources if you want to find out, and stay on top off Google’s Adsense program. I’ve included some obvious links and some low volume forums as well, in an effort to be through. Be careful about what you read and try if you venture too far off the beaten path.
Official Google Information
Google Adsense : This is the main Google site where you apply for Adsense, log in to get your adsense code, and view your reports.
Google Adsense Case Studies: If you’re looking to see examples of Google adsense in action these are a few sites google has profiled.

News or Blogs About Google Adsense
JenSense: Jenstar who publishes this blog is the moderator of the WMW and Search Engine Watch forums on Adsense. This blog covers all contextual advertising programs not just adsense, but is one of the best sources for information about the adsense program. Additionally when they make a change to the programs terms and conditions, this is the place I go for an explanation I can understand. She is also a regular speaker for contextual advertising programs at conferences and tradeshows.
Problogger: This Blog is run by Darren Rowse who is part of the Breaking News Blog Network. You will get some good subjects brought up here on a regular basis. I’ve only been subscribed for a few weeks but this one is definitely a worthwhile read.
Make Easy Money With Google Adsense Blog: This is the companion blog to the ‘Make Easy Money with Google‘ book. Not deep in coverage, but it is fairly new. See my ‘Make Easy Money With Google Adsense Review‘ for more information.

Adsense Related Forums or Newsgroups
WMW Google Adsense Forum: There’s lot of information here, not too much in the ways of ‘tricks’ or ’secrets’. A major advantage of this forum is Adsense Advisor (Google’s Adsense representative) reads, answers questions, and posts news here. Check out the Adsense Library for archives of the top threads.

Digital Point Google Adsense Forum: Much looser and less formal than webmaster world. This is an active fast growing forum, however there aren’t as many seasoned adsense professionals here as there are in other places. Members drop URL’s to their own sites looking for help, or advice. Makes it a great spot to see things in action.

Search Engine Watch Google Adsense Forum: Again not as formal as WMW, but not quite as loose as Digital Point. If you read for a little while and use the reputation rankings you’ll get a feel for who knows what they are talking about and who’s just yakkin’. That said you will still see some good topics here on a regular basis from more seasoned adsense professionals.

Google Adsense Blog: Nothing to speak of at the time of publication. http://adsense.blogspot.com requires a login, Adwords has a dedicated blog so we can only hope.

LINK : WIKIPEDIA

CONCISE ENCYCLOPEDIA OF GOOGLE ADSENSE

I’ve been reading a few forums and blogs about Google Adsense tips lately, and thought it would be helpful to consolidate as many as possible in one place without the comments. I’ve also thrown in a few tips of my own. We start out with some of the basic general stuff and move to the more specific topics later on.
Build an Empire?

When you’re deciding to become a website publisher you will fall into one of two broad categories:
Publish 100 websites that each earn $1 a day profit
Publish 1 website that earns $100 a day profit

The reality of it is, most people end up somewhere in between. Having 100 websites leaves you with maintenance, management and content issues. Having one website leaves you open to all sort of fluctuations (search engines algorithm’s, market trends, etc). You can adapt your plan on the way, but you’ll have an easier time if you start out going in the direction of where you want to end up.
General or Niche

You can build your website around general topics or niche ones. Generally speaking niche websites work better with adsense. First off the ad targeting is much better. Secondly as you have a narrow focus your writing naturally becomes more expert in nature. Hopefully this makes you more authority in your field.

If this is your first try at building an adsense website, make it about something you enjoy. It will make the process much easier and less painful to accomplish. You should however make sure that your topic has enough of an ad inventory and the payout is at a level you are comfortable with. You may love medieval folk dancing, but the pool of advertisers for that subject is very small (in fact it’s currently zero).

Once you’ve gotten the hang of how Adsense works on a website, you are going to want to dabble in some high paying keywords, you may even be tempted to buy a high paying keyword list. This does come with some dangers. First off the level of fraud is much higher on the big money terms. Secondly there is a distortion of the supply and demand relationship for these terms. Everyone wants ads on their website that make $35 or more a click, however the number of advertisers who are willing to pay that much is pretty limited. Additionally the competition for that traffic is going to be stiff. So, don’t try to run with the big dogs if you can’t keep up. If you have to ask if you’re a big dog, then chances are, you’re not. I have used a high dollar keywords report from cashkeywords.com and was pleased with my results (see cash keywords free offer recap).
New Sites, Files and Maintenance

When you’re building a new site don’t put adsense on it until it’s finished. In fact I’d go even farther and say don’t put adsense on it until you have built inbound links and started getting traffic. If you put up a website with “lorem ipsum” dummy or placeholder text, your adsense ads will almost certainly be off topic. This is often true for new files on existing websites, especially if the topic is new or different. It may take days or weeks for google’s media bot to come back to your page and get the ads properly targeted. TIP: If you start getting lots of traffic from a variety of IP’s you will speed this process up dramatically.

I like to build my sites using include files. I put the header, footer and navigation in common files. It makes it much easier to maintain and manage. I also like to put my adsense code in include files. If I want/need to change my adsense code, it’s only one file I have to work with. TIP: I also use programming to turn the adsense on or off. I can change one global variable to true or false and my adsense ads will appear or disappear.
Managing URL’s and channels

Adsense channels is one area where it’s really easy to go overboard with stats. You can set up URL channels to compare how one website is doing to another. You can also set up sub channels for each URL. If you wanted to you do something channels like this:
domain1.com - 728 banner
domain1.com - 336 block
domain1.com - text link
domain2.com - 728 banner
domain2.com - image banner
domain2.com - 336 block
domain3.com - 300 block

While this is great for testing and knowing who clicks where and why, it makes your reporting a little wonky. Your total number will always be correct but when you look at your reports with a channel break down things will get displayed multiple times and not add up to correct total. Makes things pretty confusing, so decide if you really need/want that level of reporting detail. TIP: At the very least you want to know what URL is generating the income so be sure to enter distinct URL channels.

Site Design and Integration
<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://bp1.blogger.com/_g--todqPy_M/Rdm0TpqglsI/AAAAAAAAAnc/eRzzGS2asVY/s400/google-heat-map-732414.gif" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5033252308257904322" />

Once you know you are going to put adsense on your website you’re going to have to consider where to put it. If this is new site it’s easier, if it’s an existing site it’s more difficult. While there are some people who will be able to do it, in most cases I’d say if you just slap the adsense code in, you’ll end up with a frankensite monster (props to Tedster of WMW for the buzzword). While every website is different, Google has published some heat maps showing the optimal locations. No surprise that the best spots are middle of the page and left hand side. Now I’ve done really well by placing it on the right, but you should know why you’re doing it that way before hand, and be prepared to change it if it doesn’t work out.

Google has also has published a list of the highest performing ad sizes:
336×280 large rectangle
300×250 inline rectangle
160×600 wide skyscraper

From the sites that I run, I do really well with the 336 rectangle and 160 skyscraper. My next best performing ad size is the 728 leaderboard, I don’t really use the 300 inline rectangle too often. So really it depends on how well you integrate these into your site. Placement can have a dramatic effect on performance. TIP: When working on a new site or new layout you may want to give each location it’s own channel for a little while until you understand the users behavior.

Another ‘trick’ that can increase your CTR is by blending your adsense into your body copy. For example if your body copy is black, remove the adsense border and make the title, text, and URL black.TIP: Try changing all of your page hyperlinks to a high contrast color (like dark red or a bold blue) then change the adsense title to the same color.

The one area where I’ve found blended ads don’t perform as well is forums, especially ones with a high volume of repeat members. Regular visitors develop banner blindness pretty quickly. One ‘trick’ to keep the ads from being ignored is to randomize the color and even the placement. As with any of the decisions about location, placement and color it’s a trade off. How much do you emphasize the ads without annoying your visitors. Remember it’s better to have a 1% CTR with 500 regular visitors as opposed to a 5% CTR with 50 visitors. TIP: For forums try placing the adsense ads directly above or below the the first forum thread.
Using Images

One of the latest ’secrets’ to make the rounds is using images placed directly above or below an adsense leaderboard. This has been used for a while but came out in a digital point forum thread where a member talked about quadrupling their CTR. Basically you set up the adsense code in a table with four images that line up directly with the ads. Whether or not this is deceptive is fuzzy and very subjective. Obviously four blinking arrows would be ‘enticing people to click’ and be against the adsense TOS. However placing pictures of 4 laptops over laptops ads isn’t, so use your best judgment here and look at it from the advertiser or Google’s perspective. If you have a question as to your implementation being ‘over the line’ write to adsense and ask them to take a look.

As far as using the images, I’ve done it and can tell you it definitely works. You get the best results when the images ‘complete the story the ads are telling’. For example if you have ads about apple pies, use pictures of freshly baked apple pies, instead of granny smith, Macintosh, pink lady, and braeburn apples. TIP: Don’t limit yourself to using images only on that size ad unit, it works just as well with the other sizes, like the 336 rectangle.

Added:
I got a little criticizm for this and rightly so, as I wasn’t specific as I could have been. Do not use very identifiable brand name or products for your images. Use generic non-specific stock images whenever possible and appropriate.
Multiple Ad Units

Another way to increase ad revenue is to use multiple ad units. According to Google’s TOS you are allowed to post up to three ad units per page. Similar to standard search results the highest paying ad units will be served first and the lowest being served last. If there is enough of an ad inventory, place all three ad units. However you should pay attention to the payouts. Current assumption is you get 60% of the revenue (on a $0.05 click you get $0.03). So if a click from the third ad unit is only paying between 3 to 5 cents you may want to omit it from your page. This is one are where giving your ad units channels does have value. If one ad unit is getting a higher percentage of click throughs you’ll want to make sure the highest paying ads are being served there. TIP:Use CSS positioning to get your highest paying ads serving in the location with the highest CTR.
Adsense in RSS

With the growth of blogs and RSS feeds you’re starting to see adsense included in the feeds now. IMHO this doesn’t work, and here’s why:
You only get to place one ad unit.
You have no control over finding the ’sweet spot’ for the ad unit.
The ads are usually poorly targeted (this is getting better).
People develop ‘banner blindness’.

I know people like being able to read full postings in their feed reader, and there are at least a dozen other reasons for full posts from pleasing your users to mobile offline computing, all of which are completely valid. However if your website depends on generating adsense revenue to survive, then bring them to the site and show them the ads there.
Affiliate Sites

Placing Adsense on affiliate sites is tricky. Are you giving up a $10, $20, or $30 sale for a $1 click? This is something you have to test on your own to figure out. If you aren’t converting now it’s definitely worth a try. I like to use adsense on my article pages. For example let’s say you had an affiliate website where you sold shoes. You’re going to need some related articles to ‘flesh out’ the site. Things like ‘getting a shoe shine’ or ‘finding a shoe repair shop’ these are excellent spots for adsense. While you won’t get rich, they will usually provide a small steady income and cover things like hosting costs.TIP: If you find you have pages getting more than 50 clicks per month add more pages about this topic, and link the pages together. Mine you logs for the search terms used.
PPC Arbitrage

This is a dicey subject so I’m going to steer clear of precise examples. Basically you bid on low volume uber niche terms at a very low cost. You set up landing page that contains high payout ads for the related general topic. You are looking for terms with a large gap between the price you are bidding on adwords and the price you are getting on Adsense. If you pay $0.10 a click and get $1.00 a click you make $0.90 each click. To get your adsense ad approved you will need to ‘add some value’ along the way. You can make a killing or get taken to the cleaners with this one, so make sure you know what you are doing before you try it.

Have any other adsense tips, tricks or secrets? Drop me an email and let me know, I’ll give you credit.

Added
728 leaderboard works very well if it is just above the end of the
“above the fold” area on what would be considered your viewers average
resolution/browser window size if there are few other enticing links
above the fold. Makes for an interesting layout but if you’re building
a site for AdSense it may be worth it. We consistently receive very
high CTRs from doing this.

Try to build sites that allow you to quickly try any and all of
those locations outlined in the heatmap guide or at least allow you a
wide degree of freedom to easily change ad/content locations.

BLOGGING WITH THE NEW BLOGGER

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://bp2.blogger.com/_g--todqPy_M/RdiFKJqglpI/AAAAAAAAAmw/ToS7FpLvjwM/s200/Que_Blogging_with_the_New_Google_Blogger_Oct_2006_eBook-BBL.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5032918993025930898" />

DOWNLOAD

Blogs, short for web-logs, are a form of online journal.
Getting Started With Blogger
You can use blogs for everything from updating your friends and family about your life, giving your own advice column, discussing your political views, or relating your experience in a topic of interest. You can host blogs with multiple contributors, or you can run your own solo show. You can even use Blogger to make your own podcast feeds.

Although there are fancier blog tools out there, the mixture of cost (free) and flexibility makes Blogger one of the best deals around.

Setting Up Your Blog

Setting up a Blogger account takes three easy steps. Create an account, name your blog, and choose a template. You can host multiple blogs with the same account name, so you only need to do that part once. This way you could separate your professional blog about your business from your personal blog about dogs, for instance.Blogger will host your blog for free on blogspot.com. You can also use Blogger to automatically ftp your blog posts to your own web space. Make sure you have the correct server settings from your internet service provider, otherwise you may have unpredictable results.
Posting
Once your blog is set up, Blogger has a basic WYSIWYG editor. (What you see is what you get) This is not necessarily a bad thing. Most blogging tools do not have robust html editors, and the ones that do often require java or other plug-ins.

If you need more formatting options and a larger window, you can use Google Docs to post to your Blogger blog. You could also do advanced editing with HTML. Blogger has an HTML tab to let you do this directly, although it does not allow JavaScript.

Email Your Posts

You can optionally configure Blogger with a secret email address, so you can email your posts to your blog. This is handy for making updates on the fly or updating from your cell phone or other mobile device.Blogger will let you upload pictures from your desktop and post them to your blog. You can choose the basic layout and size of your images, and they’ll be uploaded to Bloggers’s server space, so you don’t have to host the pictures on a different website.

That doesn't mean you can't post with pictures that you've hosted elsewhere on the Web. You can also use Picasa Web Albums to post pictures to your blog.

Google Video and YouTube videos can similarly be directly linked into your blog posts.

<category scheme='http://www.blogger.com/atom/ns#' term='HOW TO ? Maintaining Momentum

According to Technorati’s research, one blog is created every second and that’s 86,400 per day or 31,536,000 per year. That is a huge figure considering that almost half of the planet earthlings are not connected to the internet.
<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://bp1.blogger.com/_g--todqPy_M/RdZcYZqgleI/AAAAAAAAAko/Q8VnYZgpmrE/s320/Slide0004-2-tm.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5032311207908906466" />

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://bp1.blogger.com/_g--todqPy_M/RdZeRZqglfI/AAAAAAAAAk4/MJjfDh4zdTo/s320/Slide0004-2-tm.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5032313286673077746" />

The blogosphere continues to double about every 5.5 months and about 13% of all blogs are updated at least weekly. The main issue is how long does a blogger blogs before giving up? A week? One month? According to Technorati, half of the new blogs become redundant after just three months.

There is a name for these blog - they’re often called splogs or blog junks. Most bloggers started out with a good intention, always with a big picture in their mind. The secret path to success is the ability to continuing blogging consistently. It doesn’t matter if no one drop any comments or someone uses harsh words banging you, the ability to maintain the momentum and chunk out interesting articles is the key to success. Most blogs takes an average of 6 months to built up the much needed momentum to leap frog one to the other stage.

2. Topics

Choosing the right topic is like choosing the right partner, if you choose the wrong topic, especially the one that you’ve got no interest in, chances are you’ll soon end up in a crossroad. I’ve come across bloggers that create blogs that target high paying keywords.

The best topic would be something of your interest, be it music or art that has a niche market in the digital world. If you’re passionate about the topic you are blogging, chances are you will never run out of ideas, remember - maintain the momentum is the key to success.

3. Blogging Platform

There are a few blogging platform to choose from, the current market leaders are Blogger, Wordpress and MoveableType. I would say that these three platform has the lion share in the blogging world. All have their plus and minus points.

Depending on your budget, if you’ve got the money and the desire to blog, then by all means get a paid hosting and host your own blog. The plus point in having your own domain name and hosting server is the ability to get a better ranking in Google Search Engine. Most search engine tend to shy away from free hosting server, even Google rank blogs from their own Blogger.com below others that has their own unique names.

If you are not sure about getting your own paid hosting plans, I would recommend you to try out this reliable hosting company 3iX, its a Singapore based hosting company and you get a 14 day trial. Unlike GoDaddy, you don’t need to be a rocket scientist to install Wordpress, 3iX offers everything with a single click, yup, you can install wordpress with a single click.

4. Diversity of opportunities

Diversifing is the key to success, bloggers that seek a steady flow of income should have multiple blogs that spread accross different server and topics so as not to put all their eggs in one basket. Multiple blogs doesn’t mean one has to stick to a single contextual advertising company, recent years have withness the addition of a variety of viable advertising options for bloggers. Unlike the year before 2005, adsense and blogads and a handfull of other are the only option available.
